Well ladies and gentleman, my sincerest apologies for missing the post last night.  The night did run late and after getting home from Marc’s place I’m afraid I crashed out something fierce..  But not to fear my friends, it’s not the Brotherhood style to leave you on a cliff hanger.  I hear you asking….”But Ronnie, yesterday is gone.  How will we ever get production day two blog when your already moving on to production day 3 blog?!?!”  Well friends first may I remind you that that many punctuation marks after a sentence is never really necessary.  And secondly (and hold on to your butts for this)  Welcome production diary….DAY 2/3!  See one exclamation point works fine.  That’s right, 2 days 1 blog.  I appologize to those of you sitting on seats without an edge because your butts must have just hit the floor.
Well let us get down to business.  DAY 2.  Fresh off the success of day 1 day two was a much later shoot.  It was our first attempt at night shoots so we waited out the sun a little.  Paul Pesnell was present and in full effect and was a godsend.  Very quick on the spot and eager to help, not to mention, Brotherhood loves Paul.  Speaking of Pauls, our very own Paul Olson was due to come down and DP this particular set as the man is a genius with lights and we were going to need it as we were doing our first night shoot.  Unfortunately the illness had him and he couldn’t make it.  We did lose 2 shots but Ryan,  Jen and Aaron were quick on the rescheduling.  I think it should be pointed out too that we would have lost many more declaring the night an almost total wash if it wasn’t for our mighty director Marc who stepped up and took the roll of DP for the night lighting the scenes himself.  Marc really had to put his money where his mouth and he did a damn fine job.  Other highlights for the evening include seeing Ryan as protagonist Ben Nelson for the first time.  Let me tell you ladies and gentleman, Ryan set the bar high for himself after his role in Small Town (which by the way is currently in the hands of resident music prodigy Tom Stillwagon for scoring) and he does not dissapoint in his new role.  Also we had a surprise visit from Brotherhood’s good friend, the talented and able Lea-Beth Shapiro, which is always a delight.
That leads us to today.  DAY 3.  Due to a project Marc had to finish for financial reasons (We do need to eat), we had to push back production a couple hours.  The silver lining is that the other project is now done and Marc is now enjoying a good night’s sleep and his head will be in this movie and this movie alone for the next 11 days.  Despite the slightly late start, when we hit the ground today we hit it running.  With Jenica and Aaron blazing through a trail of production work of scheduling and call sheets and other things Ronnie doesn’t fully understand,  Me and Marc with actors Ryan and Vanessa tore through the scenes.  One scene in particular that we filmed today with the two of them blew me, and I’m sure anyone else watching, away.  We have worked with Vanessa before but never before gotten the chance to have her play such a big role, and if I do say so myself, she is more than handling it.  And to top of the day we sat around a table and took a pre-emptive strike at the schedule for tomorrow so that we already have the foot up on the day.
When all is said and done for the ups and downs only one thing matters. We dumped the footage and the audio onto the computer and Marc threw some quick cuts together, even lined up one of my audio files over THE scene (the one Ryan and Vanessa amazed us so much with).  It all comes down to this…The footage is good…it’s damn good.  And that’s all that matter’s.  Happy Veteran’s day all.

Your friendly neighborhood sound guy,
Ronnie
